You are currently viewing A fairy park with fireflies in China

In the East of the country, East Lake Peony Garden offers a verdant magic, between the fluorescence of fireflies and the chlorophyll of trees.

Sometimes called the “Chicago of China”, the eastern city of Whuan (south of Beijing), on the banks of the Blue River, not only houses the largest river port in the country. It is now recognized for its park which will reopen this summer, after a considerable success last year (more than 10.000 visitors). Light and fairy, this garden is completely filled with fireflies. About ten thousand species of lampyridae (lamprey family) from Ganzhou, about a thousand kilometers away, develop there, transported in jars, then divided into five zones: flight, observation, direct contact, breeding and scientific explanation. A real journey between understanding the way of life of these surprising little creatures and total immersion in the middle of this fluorescent cloud.
